Out Of Range

Mission:
The Belle of Bellatrix
Location: Main Bridge [Deck 1, USS Farragut]
Timeline: 2278.50 0915hrs
Rackham pressed a finger to his temples. Perhaps the drinks reception last night had been a bad idea. Thankfully no-one else on Alpha Shift seemed to be any more chipper so it was lucky that they were merely heading through the expanse of space in a straight line.
David, however, in his typical fashion, wasn't feeling a bit of the previous night's drinking, and was excited looking over the science station's readouts, "Sir, we'll be approaching the edge of Federation Space shortly... should I prepare sensor and records buoys for deployment? Boldly go and all that, but... you know... safely and what have you." He said, offering an excited smile.
The Captain almost smiled. This was it, the point of no return. Once they passed over the edge of Federation territory they would be out of immediate contact range of any ship or fleet base. In short, they'd be on their own. He was excited; clearly not as effervescent as his science officer but there could be little doubt that this marked the true beginning of their mission.
Daisy entered the bridge, overhearing David. She barely glanced at Rackham as she headed to her seat. She settled in the seat at the helm. She looked at David. "I'll need operation frequency incase I need to send messages back to fleet.
"Yes, prepare the buoys Lieutenant and enter a 60-day-dispersal for launching the communications buoys." That would give them enough of a link back to the Fleet without needing to refabricate anything. "Transmit the secure codes to Ensign Skie-Cloud and Lieutenant Kramer to allow them to submit their data."
"Done and done, sir!" Windsor called, brightly.
Daisy gave a big warm smile directed at the Captain, putting on her ear piece, making adjustments to the audio. She began to scan the area for radio signals she could latch onto to see where they came from.
Lieutenant Kramer sat by the programmable console on the Captain's right hand side, unable to see the man's face from his position. He knew that the codes would soon be coming to him. He just had to put them to good use.
