Take It To The Source

Posted on Sun Dec 6th, 2015 @ 4:21pm by Captain Aidan Rackham

Mission: The Belle of Bellatrix
Location: 'Selection Site', Veccha City, Bellatrix IV
Timeline: 2278.54 1520hrs [Ship Time]

Unsure of what was going on as Rackham and Carver quietly conferred, 'De'Microbuster' looked at Daisy, knowing he definitely got help from her. Yet she was bound by her ship's protocol the way she looked to and deferred to Captain Rackham. "I can show you guys the where they take the girls to be selected." He motioned them to follow as he took off coveralls he was wearing to show he was wearing a disguise of being a minor priest of the Temple Order. He threw each of the officers a simple shawl which covered the blood red of their uniforms.

He led them out the back way onto a totally different street and joined in with crowd of peasants, workers, homeless, and street hawkers. The crowd accepted him by the secret hand signals he made every time the crowd glared at him. He assured the Fleet Officer this was a shortcut and would be leaving the crowd soon as he lead them into a full scale riot that the crowd was rushing to join against the Temple Guards and the Order.

They sprinted through the crowds, trying to avoid as much of the trouble as they could, their disguises helping to go someway to avoid problems. "We are just half a sector away." He told them when they took cover in the alleyway. Of course, nobody knew what the measurement meant but they seemed to be close. "We will be able to get a view into the cloisters from the building across the road, Captain, you should go and speak with the priest while we observe."

Moments later, after a particularly innocuous looking conversation carried out in front of the main door of the complex, Rackham returned to the group looking perplexed. "He was as happy to see me as he was keen that I didn't go any further."

"They were hurrying the girls out of the cloisters. Those are the initiates which have been put forward to be the new Lady." The old man told him as his colleagues nodded silently. They'd seen it and there wasn't much doubt that the priests were hiding something. Quite what it was, they wouldn't be sure until they went to the source.

"Well that's pretty much nailed it then." Rackham said quietly turning back toward the Temple which stood out like a sore thumb against the ramshackle skyline. "We're going to have to have a word with Lady Sare."
