Drinks Reception - Appropriate Attire

Posted on Mon Jun 1st, 2015 @ 7:26pm by Lieutenant David Windsor & Ensign Daisy Skie-Cloud

Mission: The Belle of Bellatrix
Location: Officer's Mess [Deck 2]
Timeline: 2278.49: 2000hrs.

When Ri thought of mixers, it meant a drink. That was posh chat for a shindig without all the good music. Canapes and drinks and standing around talking- yeah, yeah, yeah. But loosely that still translated somewhere along the line to party no matter who was throwing it, so she was up to checking it out in the least. It wouldn't hurt to go investigate it.. Or at least pick at the food. Smile a bit. Eat more food. And hey: it was an excuse to really scrub up for a change.

Wandering to the officer's mess, it was still quiet, still in the process of setting up with a small group of people arranging trays and putting the last chair in place. It wasn't like her to be early. Ever. But that just meant she'd get to start the sampling early-

-Except that one of the guys on catering detail was quick to stick a finger in her face and make a chiding noise. Yes.. she remembered him from the first day. Mister picky sandwich man who got all uppity when she mentioned that she didn't care what kind of mustard went on the sandwich. 'Did he have the yellow kind?' Apparently that was reason enough for war.

"What? My hands are clean. I know fancy food words. Gruyere. Blanc. Mushroom. I just want one of the poofy looking things.." she said, pointing to.. the tray of poofy things.

"You don't know good food," he responded with a frown as he plucked one of the snacks off a tray and dropped it unceremoniously in her hands. "Touch nothing. I'm watching you."

Daisy breezed into the room wearing what looked like a cloud of white material, barefooted and her hair loose that seamed alive when ever she moved gracefully. She snagged a napkin from the pile at the end of the table along with a small plate to hold extra finger foods. She worked her way down the table, filling the small plate with a variety of foods. When the light hit her gauze-like gown just right, it would either silhouette her physique or completely reveal her suntanned physique.

She waved to DiMarco once she reached the other lady. "Excuse me." Gliding past her. "Last time we met. I was rude not to introduce myself. May The Olympians forgive me. I am Daisy Skie-Cloud."

Ri blinked once, then offered her hand. She hadn't the beginning of an idea what to make of the woman or her gorgeous dress or earthy name, so she just rolled with it. "Ri DiMarco. Nice to meetcha. I didn't realize that this was a dress up thing. I'm so used to Fleet stuff being all itchy uniform standard."

"Oh! At parties, Sories, you gotta dress up and look your best." Daisy took Ri's hand in hers. Gripped soft gentle like a caress. "But I do understand when you've limited storage space that you can't carry the nicer things in life." Smiling widely that even if the grin was goofy, it looked warm and inviting.

"Right. Yep. except I don't really do the whole dress up thing unless I have to or unless the guy is hoppin' cute, you know. Then maybe you find something short in your bottom drawer. Otherwise, not me." Ri shook her head emphatically, which somehow drew the evil eye of the caterer again, so she shifted to the left a little to put Daisy between the two of them. "But you look great! Really elegant and stuff."

"Thank you." Daisy smiled, "yeah.. then you wear nothing at all if he really cute." She gave a soft giggle and popped one of the finger foods into her mouth. She quickly ate it. "Since joining Starfleet and leaving home world..." sighed softly, ..." have to cover up with restrictive cloth!"

David had walked up right in the middle of the conversation, and stopped short, clearning his throat nervously, "Yes... generally... that is preferred. To be covered up... I mean, not that anyone would not want to see you uncovered. You have a perfectly lovely body... er... what I mean to say is that..." Without another word, David crammed an entire hors d'oeuvre into his mouth and clearing his throat while he chewed.

Daisy giggled at hearing David. She turned to face him. "Thank you, Master," As she gave him a regal curtsy. "And so do you have a nice physique. I'm Daisy Skie-Cloud. Whom you might be?" Her dark brown eyes sparkled in the ambient light as she openly looked him over.

David stopped chewing for a moment, than swallowed hard, "I am... I am David Allen Windsor, Chief of Science aboard the Farragut... and you are?" He asked, offering her a hand to shake. He'd seen her before around the ship, but hadn't had a chance to be properly introduced.

"Communications," Daisy spoke pleasantly. "Daisy Skie-Cloud," taking his hand in her soft hand with a gentle caressing grip. "Nice to make your acquaintance. This is Ri DiMarco." waving a hand in the direction of Rianna. "She's a very good tech."

"Don't mind me. I'm just here to be totally amused.." DiMarco said, waving her hand to Windsor with a wrinkle of her nose.

"Oh yes, Ri and I have met," He said, coughing and scooting over to Ri and putting an arm around her shoulders, "We've worked together a couple of times now. We work together quite well. Isn't that right, Ri?" David said, frantically.

Wesley appeared Windsor's side, "Smooth, boss," and then casually walked away again.

Raising her hand to her mouth to help bite back a laugh, Ri mouthed out 'oh no, I'm not saving you.." then cleared her throat and smiled broadly. "Yep. I take stuff apart and he talks about it lots."

Daisy gave a short soft heartfelt laugh at the situation David found himself in and to smooth over awkwardness of the moment, "If I may ask, have you found anything that caught your interest to study, David." She was inwardly surprised that David moved to Rianna as most would be all over her. She could see that Rianna was a pretty lady in her own right. Smart and skillful.

"I... well, yes, actually. Ri and I have been working on trying to crack our way into the the device that cleaned the crime scene," He said. Generally, "The Crime Scene" was enough to be said for anyone who'd been on the planet. "It's proving to be a difficult nut to crack."

"There is a favorite tech saying, 'Use a bigger hammer.' Ever think it could be an Xeno that not registered in the databanks?" Daisy suggested softly. "It's obvious that there may be more than one involved."

"It's a valid consideration," David said, nodding his head. "I've given it consideration, but haven't been able to confirm that yet. Besides, what would Gunning have done to offend an unknown xeno species?" David asked. "At any rate, we've got our own new mission to work on. The investigation will have to wait for the time being."

Ri's lips twitched to the side. She really had no idea about alien anything. They were nifty, they were cool, if there was tech she'd poke at it. Otherwise it was a lost art on her. If it breathed and as friendly, all was cool. "So there are these great poofy things on that table over there. I highly suggest them. They just melt inside with goodness and cheese."

David looked over her shoulder to the table, "Ah! Pan de bono! It's a colombian bread. Wonderful! I believe I'll have a piece," He said, excusing himself from the conversation. He could give a lecture on theoretical genetic simulation algorithms to the graduating class at Harvard, but put him in a conversation with two attractive women for five minutes and he walked away looking like an idiot.
